SciTech Centre’s Conference Rooms have been the venue of many of its own Conferences and Workshops as well as those held in association with The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), The International Society For Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA), Drug Information Association (DIA), Controlled Release Society (CRS), Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Bombay College of Pharmacy (BCP), The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA). Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India (IPMMI), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), The Health Foods & Dietary Supplements Association (HADSA), and others.
Large numbers of reputed International Pharma Scientists have been brought to India through such events to lecture as well as to network and collaborate with Indian Research Centres, Industry, Academia and the Regulatory Authorities. Over 2000 pharma and engineering personnel have been trained each year at such Conferences and Workshops at SciTech Centre.
Such dissemination and exchange of research and technology has benefited Indian Science. SciTech has video-recorded and assisted in publishing proceedings of some of these Conferences and made them accessible to other R &D Centres and Colleges.
Some highlights in SciTech Centre’s history include a Special Citation from UNIDO in November 1982 for Research and Training in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology. Also the conceptualization and prototype development of pharmaceutical equipment which won its sponsor the prestigious Fabrafarma Machine Award in Brazil in 2008.
Another SciTech research and prototype development project enabled the sponsor to win an Award from The Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India (IPMMI) in November, 2008 for innovation in the design and performance of a Automatic Packaging Machine.
A number of other Research Centres and Educational Institutions have been provided assistance by SciTech, including samples for research and development purposes. A Scientific Pharmacy Museum was set up at KMK College of Pharmacy, Mumbai. Over 200 final year and post-graduate science students have benefited by one day training at SciTech and high-tech areas of sponsor companies each year.
